Zara Home Sale is on! SS 2014

Today will just be a quick entry, about Zara Home. Especially that its SALE just started today!
It was a long time ago I had bought something from there, but recently I had this urging feeling in myself that I should check them out again!
So knowing that they start their sale pretty late compared to the other shops...I was chekcing their website on a daily basis, when this morning I saw the big pink letters!!!! 30% 50% Off!!!

Even though I have around 5 different bed linens just for myself. (all are from Zara Home) I felt that I have to possess a new one...and after carefully checking them all I finally decided to buy the Flowers and Fruit Bed Linen.
I used to live with a girl from Poland, who was crazy about bedsheets and bed linens...she kept ordering them from the US, and many times her main topic was what type of sheets she has ordered from the US...I thought she was weird at the time, but the older I am...I started maybe understand it...even if not, I definitely share a sense of gradual willing to own these beautifully designed sheets...and just cannot wait to wash them and jump into the bed, with the freshest scent...even just writing this down made me feel content and smile! I love changing my bedsheets often, so I can always have this feeling...which is of course the best to share! :) Udo <3

Learning to drive in London

I am knackered...since last Tuesday (9th June) my flat looks like it is under attack! There are ongoin refurbishment works in the kitchen and bathroom, which were supposed to be finished by Monday, that was 2 days ago...an hour ago I just got the news...that they hopefully would be able to finish by end of next week!? Whaaaaat?
Anyway the pain I am going through at the moment really needs a post, but I want to wait till they finished everything, so I can share all the shenanigans of the redecoration process...by which I am at the point...when I can just laugh about it...

After this little intro of what is going on in my flat currently, [which actually makes me really tired everyday, hence not being able to write an entry,] let's get back to driving!

Yes driving a car! Basically I have a driving licence for not less than 13 years now, but for about 10 years I was not exposed to any driving...so I feel I forgot everything...I had a 3 days intense driving with an instructor back in September, which went well. :) True in the very first moments...the instructor was holding his head...how I could actually have a licence :P but he also recognised my talent and an hour later he confirmed: I was born to be a driver :)

Ok then I was born to be a driver, but in Hungary we drive on the right hand side of the road...and here in London and in England people drive on the left hand side...and the main aim why I am doing this now, is because in September I will drive through entire New Zealand and some parts in Australia, where also left hand side driving rules.

So I needed some training!

I found a local driving school and now I have lessons every week up until September! Surprisingly even in the first lesson I excelled and the instructor commented that I felt the car very well :) breaking and speeding were very smooth and I was good at it! Whoopie!
Although I still think I needed this time to get used to the other side...
Last minutes of the first lesson at the last turn, I actually wanted to turn to the wrong side of the road...

By now though everything seems fine and I am brave and confident. I must say to everyone, that driving an automatic vehicle is wonderful!!!! Just as easy as riding a bike! I am so content! So watch out New Zealand and Aussie! I am coming!

Lastly since, sometimes I also make funny comments while driving, I thought to share some quotes between students and instructor, that I found on a website (for Hungarian speakers) and website (for English speakers). I found them funny, so have a laugh with me!

Tropic of Cancer in Western Sahara

I don't really watch telly, I don't even have one, but sometimes I check what's on on BBC iplayer. That's how it happened that now I regularly watch The Culture Show and anything from traveller Simon Reeves.

The newest series of Simon Reeve is called Tropic of Cancer, where he travelled around the world through the circle of Tropic of Cancer reaching 18 countries.
The 3rd episode will be aired tonight, can't wait to see it!

Anyway why I am writing about this, is because Mr Reeve posted a photo on his Twitter account about the Tropic of Cancer signpost in Western Sahara and for my surprise...in the middle of nowhere, so far from Hungary...the signpost marked this latitude in English and guess what....in Hungarian too...

When I started writing this post, I actually wanted to ask why is that! In Western Sahara the spoken language is Arabic or French but definitely not Hungarian, so I was really intrigued to look for the answer!

I found it :) and will post it here tomorrow! Either updating this post, or in the comment section! :)

Till then be my guest to guess the reason!

*** The answer is easy ***

First of all, I tried to search online amongst the images but that did not give any satisfactory answer…well not any answer…Then I went back to do it in an ‘old skool’ way, THINKING and not using the internet.

So I heard about lost or hidden tribes in the desert that speak Hungarian or something very similar to Hungarian so maybe they live around Dakhla in Western Sahara.
Or was it a lonely or a group of Hungarian explorer(s) who wanted to mark that (s)he/they conquered the Sahara and was able to reach the Tropic of Cancer?
Is this a huge discovery? Some kind of language similarity between Hungarian and a tribal language?

And finally I found the answer: Hungarians always take part in rallies across the world. So the participants from the Budapest-Bamako rally had the idea to actually show to other people where the Tropic of Cancer run through the desert. Well at least someone had the idea to mark it there!

To be honest even the above correct answer went through my mind…but I could not imagine that these rally drivers and assistants would stop in the middle of the desert in the middle of a fast paced race, just to mark where the Tropic of Cancer running through the world…anyway…I was close J Conclusion? Be imaginative anything can happen! J

Selfridges' Shopwindows, Hello Beautiful, May-June 2014

I know, I could not keep my own deadline and promise to you: dear Sentimental Readers of mine! So even though I asked you to stay tuned for this entry about the shopwindows of Selfridges...which should have been posted on Wednesday. But as usual, as the weather is getting better and I started driving (tell you later) and going to the gym again I just have less and less time.  Yesterday I also went to see James Rhodes pianist again in the Hinde Methodist Church with a dear colleague of mine!

But hey! I woke up today early to put this entry together, because I still have so many things in my pocket to share with you and if I don't do it, then their relevance would be lost and would just end up in a hidden computer folder.

Since I am here in London, notoriously I take photos of many shopwindows! My favourites are Harrods', Liberty's, Harvey Nichols', Topshop's and Selfridges' which I am going to share with you now!

'Hello Beautiful' says Selfridges to the world and to us, enhancing our beauty with a blinking eye ;) The department store teamed up for a good cause! #beautyproject is an open debate about what beauty is and what it means to people. We can join on Twitter and by various interactive ways to express what we think about beauty be it inner or appearance.
Check out Selfridges' website for more information on upcoming events and 'to do-s'!

All you beautiful Sentimentals enjoy scrolling down and looking at wonderfully detailed and professional shopwindows and have a wonderful Friday!

If you are interested in to see more images with other details of these window sets, you can see many more photos on my Facebook Page too.
