To put the cherry on the top of the 'wedding' cake this year, the last wedding was in Budapest where every little detail was
perfect from the location to the food.
Matthias Church |
Not so usual from me, but I was the first one arriving there from the wedding crowd and so I could walk around a bit in my long princess style dress :) of which I will post tomorrow, but this post will concentrate on one of my oldest friend’s wedding in Budapest.
The location could not have been any better as it was in the
Buda Castle district in the very well known, tourist magnet, gorgeously
ornamented Matthias (Matthew’s) Church! The view from there over the city is
mesmerising too!
We all gathered together in front of the church :) and it was again great
to see friends I have not seen for ages.
There were some new boyfriends and girlfriends to be introduced and
pretty soon we all were on the same wavelength. Then finally we saw the
groom….and then the door of the church opened and the master of ceremony instructed us to go inside the church. Then, once we all sat in silence, overwhelmed by
the ornaments and grandiosity of the church, the groom walked down the aisle,
then my friend, the bride followed him to the altar. They both looked very good! Eniko’s
wedding dress was simple and beautiful!
Just married! :) |
After a nice and short ceremony, followed by a group photo
where we all had to shout ‘water-bike’ ‘vizibicikli’ instead of ‘cheese’ we
walked towards the Academy of Music where the civil ceremony took place. That
room with a gorgeous chandelier hanging above us, and the mesmerising views…was
another great spot for this wedding. The ceremony was super short, but then
many advices followed it for the married life.
In Hungary it is normal to thank for the parents and grandparents for bringing up their children to who they are now i.e. the couple themself. Normally this is the moment when everyone’s eyes get some chilli in them. It is a very emotional moment, making even the groom to show emotions and tears in his eyes.

My gorgeous friend and her lovely mother :) |
And before their happily ever after, we normally have a huge
party to eat and dance till dawn and celebrate with them! The party was
organised in Hemingway Restaurant in Buda side.
The starters were very similar to the other weddings, I was invited to, being foie gras
followed by a typical chicken soup. Yummy! :) For main we had a buffet with 5 different types of food to serve all needs for
different diets. There were gnocchi, wild boar, beef, turkey, vegetables and
fish too. Later desserts and the
midnight menu were served too, because in Hungary the wedding does not stop at
midnight! We fill up the people again, so they can drink more and dance more, really until the morning sun lights up the sky! :)
Aaaaand CHEERS to my friends! :)
Nite nite! It was 4am, when we finished the party and made our way home, to hotels or friend's places.

great wedding
ReplyDeleteIndeed it was the best in that year :)
DeleteReally adorable wedding. I really loved going through these pictures. Best arrangements were done and liked to see everyone enjoyed. Want to have best arrangements for my wedding that will take place at one of Los Angeles wedding venues. Planning to hire wedding planners for the day.
